We have an exciting opportunity to join our Team as we are actively recruiting for a Human Resources Assistant responsible for supporting employee, supervisor and manager daily human resource requirements.  This position involves overseeing Human Resource Department functions including recruitment, on-boarding, and benefit administration while balancing the day-to-day operational needs with broader organizational goals like engagement, compliance, and performance. This position reports to the VP, Human Resources.

What we’re looking for

  • Create, post, and track the status of open positions.
  • Pre-screen, schedule and interview applicants for entry level, manufacturing, technical, and professional open positions.
  • Prepare offers of employment.
  • Provide onboarding orientation to new employees including preparing new hire information packages, in-person presentation of company policies and preparation of payroll information.
  • Provide benefit orientation to full-time employees eligible for company benefits.
  • Administer employee benefit programs including online enrolment for group health insurance, group pension plan, and eligibility for disability programs.
  • Maintain records in the employee attendance system by creating new hire profiles, tracking and updating profiles for internal transfers, completing termination checklists, tracking corrective actions, updating changes in job classifications, and tracking merit increases.
  • Ability to serve as a backup for payroll functions.
What you need to succeed
  • Post secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources required
  • CHRP designation, or working towards CHRP designation, an asset.
  • Experience in payroll processing, an asset.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in an administrative role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Sound planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Wage Range: $20.00 - $26.00 / hour
